Is it Spring?

We've just spent a lovely afternoon at the garden centre and then outside in the garden, getting started (a little later than planned!) on our endless list of tasks.

We planted our potatoes and spinach outside, in containers in case we move at some point soon - and also because our soil is a nightmare. We've also started off tomatoes, basil and butternut squashes inside so hopefully we'll manage to grow some decent veg this year. It's all covered up in this hideous old patched-up rabbit run because last years attempts were destroyed initially by cats thinking we'd helpfully laid out some nice new soil for them to mess all over.
We picked our only crop of rhubarb this year - tiny but beautiful and a nice surprise as I thought I'd finally ruined the poor crowns last year.
A happy dancing girly:
Phil worked on the patio, which we've had to live with wonky for a couple of years, but now we're trying to sell it has occurred to him that people might prefer it straight!
And here's a small boy, tired after hours of playing with a pot, a spade and a very flooded sandpit, having a little tantrum on the table...
And now it's time for tea, earth hour games and stories without electricity, and then early bed for the little ones and a very well earned takeaway and evening of games for the grown-ups. It's been a long three months without much let-up, and I feel like we're turning a corner now that the spring appears to be here at last. Onwards and upwards...

Updating :-)

So here we are, this is the reason for my lack of posts lately! I've been completely terrified and in denial since having early bleeding and - despite my misgivings about scanning - I can finally relax now, knowing there really is a little person dancing in there. I can't believe how lucky we are, it almost seems like asking for too much as I have two gorgeous children already, and I feel that I need to do some work on my anxiety as I'm sure it can't be good for me or this teeny one.

I can't believe the quality of this scan picture though! We could see little fingers and everything. Incredible.

I've also been getting more deeply involved in my doula training, which I'm absolutely loving, and I'm hoping to set up some antenatal sessions soon. I've been doing a bit of work around Birth Art, which is fascinating and good fun too - and I'm co-facilitating a workshop at Quest, which is very scary and exciting!! I feel very privileged to be becoming more involved in this wonderful world of magic and motherhood.

Alongside this, we've had a lot of house-related stress. Despite being assured that our house would sell immediately, we haven't had much interest at all. This has now turned out to be a good thing, since we had our hearts set on a house which was about 30 mins away and after many sleepless nights I've finally realised - and convinced Phil - that this is just too far. We'd spend half of our lives in the car and that's not what we want to move to the country for! So we're waiting for someone to love our house, and for a perfect place to come up in a closer village. I don't mind, our house is lovely and I'd happily have this baby here too, but it's just a little stressful having it hanging over us (and having to tidy up for viewings, lol!) so just a bit of a clue about the future might be nice.

Finn has learned masses of new words lately and his sentences are hilarious. He drops his h's so runs behind me yelling 'mummy, 'urry up!' and when he gets stuck he just freezes and shouts 'elp!'. He's ever so funny at the moment and we're all delighted by him. Chloe seems to be living at the gym at the moment but we're making progress with communication and I seem to be being slightly more in tune with her, which can only be a good thing. She's becoming more interested in arty things and also LOVES riding, which is really lovely to see.

So that's me for now! I'm missing time for crafting and need to get Phil to take Finn out on a saturday soon so I can make a little sleeping bag for his birthday baby doll. There are millions of other things on my list but that's the most fun! Fingers crossed it happens before his birthday, unlike those Christmas trousers, which are still pinned together and have yet to be sewn...

Season swap! And updating...

Here is the beautiful spring picture, card and gorgeous knitted chick we received in our season swap package from Shazronnie this morning - thank you so, so much! It was so lovely to open this at breakfast time before Chloe disappeared off to gym - it made a family moment in our busy, busy weekend!
It's been ages since I was able to blog, things have been madly busy and for various reasons I've wanted to wait a while - but I thought as I was on here anyway I should add a couple of pictures I've loved this week! My brother brought his girlfriend to visit us this week and we celebrated his 21st a couple of days late. His gf is visiting from the US this week so they've been busy trying to visit family and friends all over the country - she was glad that the strike cancelled her flight home and she got a couple of extra days here!
And here's the little boy who did the mixing, trying his hardest to eat all the mixture before it got into the cake cases!!
I hope to be back here really soon with a proper update and some regular posting!
