Olive AdaShe was born in 1917, the youngest of three sisters. As a young woman, she rescued a stranger who was drowning in the sea. She married my grandfather and raised two gorgeous boys - one of whom is my father, the most gentle and decent man I've ever known. She was a widow for twenty-five years and devoted herself to her family and friends, always smiling, never complaining and often saying "aren't I lucky?".
I wish I'd known this beautiful lady for more of her 94 years, and I certainly hope I've inheirited some of her strength and dignity.
